Hey babes! As most of you know I have a major sweet tooth! I was so excited to collaborate with Yummiewear and design a shirt with them. Thanks Yummiewear for sponsoring this post! All of their collections are so fun and unique. If you’re a foodie like me you need to check out all their stuff. It was such an awesome experience working with them and getting to choose shirt styles, pick designs and express my love for a good waffle cone! I mean seriously I think every girl needs a few fun shirts like this one. You can never go wrong with an Ice Cream graphic tee.
Let me give you some background on this wonderful company and Michaela the creator of Yummiewear!
“Why Yummiewear, you might be asking? Well, I love to eat. A lot. And I love to work out. But the two shall never collide, right? In the Spring of 2015, I spontaneously decided to train for my first figure competition. Half of that process consisted of regimented training and the other half, the more challenging half, severely limited my diet to foods like fish, green vegetables and sweet potato, in very meager amounts. While visions of chocolate chip cookies danced in my head (and yes, they did), all I could snack on was almonds, for a total of nine weeks. I didn’t know this journey was going to be so extremely physically, emotionally and mentally challenging, but I was determined to persevere. One day though, with insatiable cravings, I caved in and cheated on my diet, devouring in a chocolate muffin, chocolate bar and pizza (oops, sorry coach).
I beat myself up about it, but there is a silver lining. I was good after that. The deviation had reset me, and I was recharged for the last few weeks of prep. In the end, it was all okay…I placed first in my class, despite my cheat day.
This experience led me to create my Yummiewear t-shirts, for all the food andf itness lovers out there… Or even just for those who love food. We all need a bit of balance and a day of eating that is completely unforgiving. Simply, we need a day to celebrate food! – Michaela (Creator of Yummiewear)”
*The heat in AZ is unreal….doesn’t mix well with a big Ice cream cone.*
So let’s talk about the drawing process. Working with Michaela and Martina (Michaela’s sister and artist) I explained to them how cute I thought it would be to do something sweet on the tee and they came up with this adorable waffle cone. Martina uses an iPad and stylus to digitally draw all of their designs. Initially they started with a more cartoony feel, but then they transitioned to a more realistic technique because they wanted the food to look like you could almost eat it except the only thing that’s keeping you from that is that its on a t-shirt. But I mean it definitely gets me craving Ice cream every time…clearly.
Now the printing process! They use dye sublimation printing. This consists of printing the image and using a heat press to transfer the image. When the ink is heated, it turns into a gas and is transferred into the fabric vs. on-to the fabric. This means, that the image is a part of the shirt which yields a consistent texture. It hold up really well, doesn’t fade and doesn’t peel!
So by now I’m sure you’re all wanting your own Yummiewear design and you’re in luck!!
