On one of my latest Instagram posts I shared that Kevin and I only had just over a month to plan our wedding! In this blog post I will share all about our wedding and the events leading up to it. Also share some tips! Hope you guys love it!
I’ll just start off by saying Kevin proposed to me towards the end of July in 2015. The next evening we were sitting out back with my family and my dad asked, “So when do you think you’ll get married?” I responded confidently with, “I want a Summer wedding so probably next August!”.
We had only been engaged one day so Kevin and I weren’t rushing to start planning or setting a date.
Then Kevin said,”Well I start training in November…so we either do it in a month or we have to wait two years.” The two years because of all the training to become a pilot in the Air Force.
Like hold up wait WHAT. Where did this come from?! So right then and there we decided there was no way we were waiting two years so… September it is. I was slightly panicking. I enlisted the help of my mom, sister and Fuse Weddings and Events and they were the DREAM TEAM. If you live in Utah and want to hire a wedding planner go with Fuse!!! Their team was absolutely amazing and handled everything perfectly so on the day of my wedding I didn’t worry about a thing.
I had just started a brand new job two days after so being able to pick stuff out, call vendors, email hair and makeup people was not easy for me. That’s where my mom and sister came in and I literally could not have done it without them.
The hardest part about planning a wedding in a month for me was finding a dress! Most dresses take months to even get in so I was left trying to find one that was already available in store which is RARE for a wedding dress apparently. Luckily after calling shop after shop after shop after shop I finally found one! We went in to try it on and I think I only tried on 2 others because my options were very limited but thankfully the dress I picked was my dream dress I always pictured!
We got married at the Grand America in Salt Lake where I am from and it was so stunning there. 90% of our guests were from out of state and we were so incredibly thankful that just about everyone was able to make it in town for our special day!
The thing that helped me stay sane during this stressful time was staying focused on the things that mattered and to me that was all of our loved ones being able to celebrate with us. I was never stressed about the flowers, the food, the cake, my color scheme, the bridesmaid dresses etc. Honestly, I was pretty nonchalant about the whole wedding planning process. Let’s be honest…when you come to terms with that fact that you only have a month to plan your wedding you just have to deal with it and relax. I had picked out the basics, I saw the Menu the venue was providing, I made sure my bridesmaids (sis and sister in law) were comfortable in their dresses etc. and I let my wedding planner handle most of the rest! The little things don’t matter at the end of the day. It’s about something so much bigger. Things won’t always be perfect but you really have to enjoy this time as much as you can because the day goes by fast!
Kevin and I were given a list by our wedding planner to name the top 3 things that were most important to each of us on our wedding day..
- Hair and Makeup
- open bar
- open bar
- open bar
and we each got exactly what we wanted! lol Photography was on the top of my list because I want to have these pictures forever. I want to look back at these photos and see all our family members and friends and all the fun we were having!
I got really lucky when it came to peoples availability. I found the most amazing photographer Alyssia B Photography, the most GORGEOUS Makeup artist Jade Marie who now has over a million Instagram followers GO GIRL, and an extremely talented videographer Elements in Motion Films.
There were no real crazy times when we were planning the wedding or on the wedding day. Everything went really smooth and I was completely relaxed on the day of our wedding! I trusted the Fuse team and knew they would handle everything. If we didn’t have them I know my mom, sister and I would be a ball of stress all day going down to the ballroom and the ceremony site to check on everything throughout the day and that really would have taken away from our experience.
So onto the pics!
We had so much fun with all our friends and family. I would have to say my favorite part was the DANCING! Enjoy!
